Frequently Asked Questions

When do your choir seasons take place? When do you rehearse?

We have two choir seasons! One from mid-September to mid-December, and another from the end of January to early May, with a concert to end each season. We always rehearse Thursday nights (choir night in Canada!) from 7:30pm-9:30pm.

Approximately how many people are in the choir?

Our average choir is between 40-50 members, but each season is different. We are excited to be a growing choir with many friendly and wonderful singers.

Where do you rehearse and perform?

We rehearse and perform at 1774 Queen Street East. You can find free parking behind the building, and the location is easily accessible by TTC. The building is accessible, and we welcome everyone! Let us know if you need accommodations.

What is the cost to sing with the choir?

Each season costs $125. We are a not-for-profit choir, and community-building is at the heart of what we do. We do not want cost to be a barrier. Please email us if you need financial assistance to join the choir. Note that we cannot issue tax-deductible receipts.

What kind of music does the choir perform?

We perform a wide variety of music. We love to perform Canadian composers, folk music, classical, and who doesn’t love a good madrigal. We also enjoy music from popular culture, movies, and musicals. We love variety. We learn about 12-15 songs per season.

Can I join if I don’t read music?

Yes! Absolutely! You will just need to make use of our practice tracks. Our pianist always records the notes for each part, and you can practice at home. We perform with our sheet music and often do not expect the music to be memorized.

What happens if I miss a rehearsal?

We encourage our choir members to take their commitment to the choir seriously. We are a team, and we need each other there regularly in order to sound good. Plan to be at as many practices as possible. However, we understand that illness and other commitments happen. Please practice at home if you miss a rehearsal.
